The
Simple Actuator is based upon using two solenoid valves to control the
motion of a linear actuator. The
solenoid valves are high response two-position valves that are PWM
modulated to control the flow. One
valve allows fluid into the actuator drive area to extend the actuator,
the other allows fluid out of the actuator drive area to retract the
actuator. The advantage of
the approach is the reduced parts count and low cost of using solenoid
control valves in place of electro-hydraulic servo valves.
